Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Nightmare Alley’ Begins Filming

Guillermo Del Toro has officially begun filming his next project, Nightmare Alley. Producer J. Miles Davis dropped a Tweet today giving us the very exciting news.

Nightmare Alley is a star studded affair that includes (my favorite living actor) Michael Shannon. As well as, Bradley Cooper Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, and Holt McCallany as Anderson.

Del Toro has a had this on his back burner for sometime saying:

“That book was given to me in 1992 by Ron Perlman before I saw the Tyrone Power movie, and I loved the book. My adaptation that I’ve done with [co-writer] Kim Morgan is not necessarily — the entire book is impossible, it’s a saga. But there are elements that are darker in the book, and it’s the first chance I have — in my short films I wanted to do noir. It was horror and noir. And now is the first chance I have to do a real underbelly of society type of movie.”

The whole thing has us pretty giddy. Del Toro constantly has fantastic worlds to build and impressive ways to tell stories. This is surely to be fitting among the other greats that the director has in his body of work.
