‘Scream 6’ Receives Longest Runtime of the Entire Franchise and 3D Release

Scream 6 is on its way back to theaters. A new and more relentless Ghostface is coming with it and this time you can see him in 3D. Early ticket booking is showing a 3D and 4DX option in many locations.

Be sure to check the theater nearest you to see if they are offering that option. Some of the listings we’ve seen mentioned a 3D “Fan Event”. At this time we’re not sure if this 3D option will be just for one night, or for the entire theatrical run. We are awaiting further clarification.

The first trailer revealed a very different approach to Sceam and its killer. This includes a public slaying featuring Ghostface using a shotgun to dispatch his enemies. Now, nobody is safe at anytime, anywhere you are in New York, you can be attacked. The approach to Ghostface isn’t the only thing that has changed. This Scream also features the longest runtime of any other runtime in the franchise.

The latest Scream clocks in at 2 hours and 3 minutes long. It doesn’t beat the other runtimes by very long, but it still does manage to be the longest entry yet.

That really doesn’t come as surprise these days. It seems like every movie we see is aiming to get a longer and longer runtime. Everything from James Bond films to Batman films are hitting record lengths. I suppose that is a natural reaction to keep up with the storytelling that is allowed in the format of the TV series.

The film stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox, Dermot Mulroney, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra, and Henry Czerny.

The synopsis for Scream VI goes like this:

Four survivors of the original Ghostface killings attempt leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh start.

Scream VI arrives in theaters beginning March 10, 2023.
