‘The Summoned’ Trailer Reveals a Hellish, Mysterious Therapy

The Summoned looks to be an invitation to a very twisted sort of therapy. A group of oddly tied together folks are all summoned to a new form of therapy that has one hell of a process.

The trailer is very reminiscent to the ideas behind The Invitation. Of course, instead of having a dinner party, this is a much more mysterious setup for therapy. I mean, therapy is already terrifying let alone one that you can’t seem to escape.

The synopsis for The Summoned goes like this:

Elijah and his rock star girlfriend Lyn are forced into making the ultimate choice when they and another couple are invited to an exclusive self-help retreat run by the enigmatic Dr. Frost. As Elijah struggles with the emotionally distant Lyn and is tempted by a sensual fellow attendee, he discovers that he’s been summoned to settle a supernatural debt that dates back generations.

The film stars J. Quinton Johnson (Hamilton on Broadway, AMC’s The Son), Emma Fitzpatrick (THE SOCIAL NETWORK), Salvador Chacon (FX’s Mayans M.C.), Angela Gulner (Netflix’s GLOW), and Freddy Douglas (Hallmark’s The Odyssey).

The Summoned arrives from XYZ Films beginning July 7.
