‘Unknown’ Psychological Horror Anthology Series Headed to Amazon

Craig MacNeill and Clay Chapman are set to bring a new psychological horror anthology series to Amazon titled Unknown.

The duo previously worked together on the The Boy, a film about a 9-year-old sociopath and his growing fascination with death. They co-wrote the script based on Chapman’s novel with MacNeill in the director’s chair.

According to Deadline, “Unknown is a psychological horror anthology series that plunges into the corners of the American landscape, probing the intersection of folklore and our bloody history of true crime.”

The first season of the series will reportedly follow a brother and sister who encounter a dark spirit when they return to the Texas Killing Fields of their youth.

Amazon is no doubt banking on the success of some of its previous anthology-type series including Homecoming and more recently with Them, on which MacNeill served as a director for two episodes.

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy will serve as producers on the series under their Kilter Films banner alongside Amazon Studios. The series comes as part of an overall deal Nolan and Joy signed with Amazon back in 2019.

There is no word yet on casting for Unknown, but iHorror will keep you posted on all the pertinent details as they become available.
