Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars) is set to star in a pandemic-inspired slasher film she co-created with Jimmy Giannopolous and Diomedes Raul Bermudez.
Plot details are scarce but according to Deadline the film takes place “when quarantine leads to a night of terror.”
Giannopolous directs from a script he co-wrote with Bermudez.
Benson is joined in the cast of 18 & Over by Jake Weary (It Follows), Jon Foster (Stay Alive), Luis Guzman (The Taking of Pelham 123), Winnie Harlow (Jungle Red), Sky Ferreira (The Green Inferno), G-Eazy, Duke Nicholson (Us), John Robinson (The Amityville Murders), Paris Hilton (House of Wax), and Pamela Anderson (Baywatch).
“After deciding to shoot this film in the middle of the pandemic, we wanted to make something that would be fun but still a terrifying slasher for audiences during these tough times,” Giannopolous said in the Deadline article. “A film relevant to today’s issues of a global pandemic, reality shows, isolation, Only Fans, and obsession.”
Benson, Giannopolous, and Bermudez previously worked together on a mob thriller that is currently listed in post-production on IMDb titled The Birthday Cake.
It will be interesting to see exactly how 18 & Over plays out.
