Lloyd Kaufman Says That ‘Toxic Avenger’ Remake Script is Better Than Original

Toxic Avenger is getting a remake at Legendary Entertainment. While most times the word remake would make me take two steps back, this one seems to be in really good and appreciative hands. Lloyd Kaufman’s Troma Entertainment is a house that is built off of The Toxic Avenger. The fact that Kaufman is so excited about the upcoming remake is a good place to start.

Actor and director Macon Blair is helming this remake. According to Kaufman Blair knows the property in and out.

“Macon Blair knows Troma and Toxic Avenger better than I do. He’s seen everything. He’s seen the cartoon, he’s seen the Halloween special, he’s seen everything. And he loves our movies like Troma’s War and Terror Firmer. I’ve read the script and it’s better than the original and I leave it to him. If I’m called upon, I’d be happy to jump in. I learned on the musical to leave the creative to the creative. I learned to let them ask so if they want me, I’m there.” Kaufman told Dread Central.

Macon Blair is one of the current actors that I love to watch. Blue Ruin, Murder Party and Green Room seriously are all great. This dude being in charge of Toxic Avenger shows that we are in really good hands here.

The synopsis for Toxic Avenger goes like this:

Tromaville has a monstrous new hero. The Toxic Avenger is born when meek mop boy Melvin falls into a vat of toxic waste. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose.
