‘Suspiria’ Co-Writer Daria Nicolodi Has Died at Age 70

Italian actress and screenwriter Daria Nicolodi has died. No cause of death has been released at this time.

Nicolodi was born in Florence, Italy in 1950 and began her career working in television before making her way into films where she rose to fame in Giallo with roles in films like Deep Red where she first met and worked with Dario Argento. The two soon began a relationship and co-wrote Supsiria together. Nicolodi was meant to have a role in the film but was injured prior to film and was unable to perform.

Nevertheless, their relationship continued until 1985 when they separated. The two have one child together, the actress Asia Argento who confirmed her mother’s death on Instagram posting:

“Rest in peace beloved mother. Now you can fly free with your great spirit and you won’t have to suffer anymore. I will try to go on for your beloved grandchildren and especially for you who would never want to see me so grieved. Even if without you I miss the ground under my feet, and I feel I have lost my only true point of reference. I am close to all those who have known and loved her. I will always be your Aria.”–translation by Deadline

Nicolodi continued acting through the early 2000s appearing in InfernoTenebraeOpera, and Paganini Horror to name just a few.

iHorror sends our condolences to the family and friends of Daria Nicolodi.
