‘Dexter’ Coming Back to Showtime for 10 Final Episodes

Dexter and his Dark Passenger are coming back to Showtime. Seems almost too good to be true at this point but, it is in fact true. Showtime has ordered 10 episodes that will close out Dexter for good. Also, perhaps it will be something that is closer to what the series deserves.

If you recall the finale in 2013 ended with Dexter Morgan going into self exile with a very  lumberjack chic look. Yep, a lumberjack. The final scene was made up of Michael C. Hall dawning a horrible beard and with it an end to all the amazing stuff that lead up to that terrible moment in television history.

Now, Showtime has a chance to redeem that ending and send Dexter back into action to set things right. I’m hoping that they bring the same magic to these ten episodes that was put into Dexter’s season four. Arguably, the best season of the lot.

“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.” Showtime Entertainment President, Gary Levine said.

Production for the final episodes begin early next year and will air during the fall of 2021.
