‘The Monster Squad’ Documentary is Coming This October

The Monster Squad was a staple in many of our childhood. For me, it was perfect gateway horror. I am still obsessed with it as an adult. It didn’t bother talking down to kids, instead it managed to speak to both audiences simultaneously. Now, Wolfman’s Got Nards: A Documentary digs deep into the fanbase of the film and the following that has given the film legs over the years.

The film explores the relationship a dedicated audience has with The Monster Squad. This documentary takes an in-depth look into the film’s conception, response, cult status, and revival. Through interviews with the cast, crew, screenwriters, directors, academics and original reviewers as well as through never-before-seen footage, it turns the lens on an audience of self-proclaimed misfits who have kept The  Squad alive for more than thirty years.

“I was thinking about all of the amazing stories that these fans have told me and our fellow castmates over the last decade of this resurgence. Those stories never ceased, or slowed down, or stopped. They just kept on growing, and getting deeper and more fascinating. I started to realize that there’s something really special there, that this movie had a really deep impact on a lot of people, and it was different from anything else that I could really put my finger on.” Andre Gower told EW.

The documentary aptly titled Wolfman’s Got Nards will be available via VOD beginning Oct. 27.
