‘The Witcher’ Anime Film in Development at Netflix

An anime-style film based on The Witcher is in the works at Netflix. Titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, the film will feature animation from Korean-based Studio Mir.

The streaming service has named The Witcher as its biggest streaming debut to date despite mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. They’ve reported 76 million unique households watched the series in its first four weeks.

Series creator Lauren S. Hissrich and producer Beau DeMayo will both we working on the animated film. There is no word yet on how or if the film will tie-in to the series, nor has it been confirmed whether Henry Cavill will voice the role of Geralt of Rivia.

Season two has already been ordered for the Netflix series, and  its possible the film is meant to serve as a stopgap to hold fans over until the second season is ready to air.

Studio Mir has previously worked on season four of The Boondocks, the 2018 animated version of The Death of Superman, and The Legend of Korra, so The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf should be a dynamic film to say the least.
