Ethan Hawke will Return to ‘The Purge’ Universe in Season Two Finale

Ethan Hawke will reprise his role from 2013’s The Purge in the upcoming season two finale of the spin-off series on the USA network.

Hawke played James Sandin in the film that launched the franchise, and it has been confirmed by a press release from the network that the character will return in the season finale’s cold open. The character ultimately died in that first film, and it will be interesting to see him return.

The scene will flash back to one week before the first national Purge and will feature Sandin testing out his high-tech home security system.

The season finale will then move back to the present to reveal what takes place when the latest Purge begins and the four central season two characters Esme (Paola Nunez), Marcus (Derek Luke), Ben (Joel Allen), and Ryan (Max Martini) fight to save themselves and their loved ones amid the chaos of the national holiday created by the New Founding Fathers of America.

Season two started off with another cameo who had been present in the franchise by voice only as Megan Lewis (Cindy Robinson) “auditioned” to record the annual Purge Commencement Announcement. Robinson, an accomplished voice actress, has been the Voice of the Purge since that first film and it was nice to finally see her face.

The season finale of The Purge titled “7:01 AM” will air Tuesday, December 17, 2019 on USA at 9 PM EST.
