‘Zombieland 2’ Originally Planned to Reunite the Ghostbusters

While it didn’t quite blow away the box office, Zombieland: Double Tap proved to be quite the crowd-pleaser, at least for those who showed up. The sequel is arguably just as funny as the first film, and contains some absolutely awesome zombie kills.

That said, as one might imagine, what was ultimately filmed was far from the first draft of Zombieland 2. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick took several cracks at the script in the decade between the two movies, and lots of things eventually got changed.

In an interview with THR though, Reese and Wernick detailed a scene that could’ve been amazing. and would’ve reunited all four original Ghostbusters actors. Sadly, the 2014 death of Harold Ramis would ultimately make the idea impossible to realize.

“Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson got Bill Murray out on a golf course and were trying to convince him to do a sequel to Ghostbusters. Dan Aykroyd becomes a zombie and attacks Bill and there are golf carts going in the lake and golf clubs being swung at people.”

While anyone who saw the sequel knows what we got from Bill Murray was pretty great, I can’t help but wish the above idea had come to pass. Of course, even if Ramis hadn’t died, there actually now is a Ghostbusters 3, so the joke still wouldn’t work.
