8 Second ‘Smile’ Teaser is Just Weird Enough to Be Interesting

If you went to see Top Gun Maverick, or Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future this weekend, you might have been treated to the teaser trailer for the horror movie Smile. The film once titled Something’s Wrong with Rose is actually a feature-length version of writer/director Parker Finn’s SXSW award-winning short Laura Hasn’t Slept.

Smile stars Sosie Bacon, who is actually only one degree of separation from her dad Kevin and mother Kyra Sedgwick. The 30-year-old actress has appeared in several high-profile projects over the years including, 13 Reasons Why, Scream the TV Series and HBO’s Mare of Easttown.

Details of the Smile’s are very sparse at this point.  Rose (Bacon), plays a psychiatrist who begins to mentally unravel after witnessing a traumatic event with one of her patients. She begins to believe a supernatural force is following her and possibly wants to kill her.

For now, curious fans are going to have to appreciate the eight-second teaser until the full-length trailer drops. Smile is scheduled to be released theatrically in September. The movie is rated R for “strong violent content and grisly images.” Let’s hope.
