‘The Darkness’ Trailer Tells a NC-17, Folk Horror Tale About Witches and Changelings

The debut trailer for The Darkness from director Tharun Mohan reveals a bit of folk horror – that leads down some pretty satanically cursed roads. The film looks to be a mix of horror and some erotic beats. I’m seriously curious if the NC-17 rating is due to the possible gore and violence or if its from the sexy side of things? Guess we will have to wait and see.

The synopsis for The Darkness goes like this:

On a country retreat, to write her new novel, Lisa feels another presence in the house. She feels its spirit taking her over, sending her on a road to madness. Can she discover the truth behind the Spirit in the house or will she be lost forever?

Well, well! I dig tales of changelings and witches. The Darkness seems to be dealing with both of those, quite a bit. It even seems to be pointing to the fact that the main character of Lisa might very well be a Changeling herself.

The Darkness stars Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor), Cyril Blake (The Waiting Game, Z-List), Katherine Hartshorne (Happiest Day, Chaos In The Spectrum), Jo Hart, Adam Bond.
