Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Demonic’ Trailer Weaves an Intense Sci-Horror Experience

Neill Blomkamp’s latest trailer for Demonic is finally here! The film was filmed in secrecy during the pandemic and marks the director’s lowest budget feature to date. The film looks to be filled with the directors unique sci-fi senseabilities. It nicely weaves together sci-fi with horror.

The synopsis for Demonic goes like this:

“A young woman unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades old rift between mother and daughter are revealed.”

Sounds cool to us. Plus, the Demonic trailer looks really rad to boot.

Blomkamp’s now abandoned attempt at both an Alien sequel and a Halo adaptation were both entirely in the director’s wheelhouse. It’s a bummer that he isn’t involved with either at this point, and we really hope that he returns to at least one of them soon.

If you haven’t read the direction that Blomkamp wanted to take the Alien franchise, you need to read about it. It’s really cool and worlds better than any of the sequels we have ended up with past James Cameron’s Aliens.

If you still haven’t seen District 9, you seriously need to. The synopsis for that goes like this:

Thirty years ago, aliens arrive on Earth — not to conquer or give aid, but — to find refuge from their dying planet. Separated from humans in a South African area called District 9, the aliens are managed by Multi-National United, which is unconcerned with the aliens’ welfare but will do anything to master their advanced technology. When a company field agent (Sharlto Copley) contracts a mysterious virus that begins to alter his DNA, there is only one place he can hide: District 9.

Demonic stars Carly Pope (POPULAR, ELYSIUM), Chris William Martin (SUPERGIRL, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES), Michael Rogers (SIREN)
